Joining the Leibniz Lab

A tough but rewarding experience

Membership in the Leibniz Lab is a demanding but rewarding experience. We hire based on certain skills to advance the goals of the lab, hire primarily Syracuse University students in EE&CS, and generally do not accept volunteers. We look for long-term 2-3 year commitments. Good candidates are very strong in mathematics, general programming, and have an understanding of machine learning techniques.

Positions

The Leibniz Lab is externally-funded, so open positions are highly dependent on grants. We generally look for skilled researchers who have a background in computational logic and related areas. Please follow the lab director’s LinkedIn for updates.

E-mails

We get a large volume of “cold-call” emails from students and people interested in AI research. We appreciate all of the interest, but we simply do not have time to respond to cold-call emails, so please do not expect a response. However, including a current copy of transcripts (undergrad and MS), detailed description of why you would be a good fit for the lab, sample papers, and code (e.g., via GitHub). As the academic rigor of this lab is high, we generally look for students that have completed (at a minimum) a BS in computer science and earned A’s in all of their computer science coursework. Students with an MS (preferred) must still include their BS transcript. Note as we sometimes pursue ITAR or similar restricted funding, we will also need to know if potential candidates are U.S. Citizens. Also note that we cannot hire individuals participating foreign talent recruitment programs, high school students, or remote workers in countries that do not have a diplomatic relationship with the U.S.
